Functional transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasound follows the same principles and assumptions of other applications of the Doppler effect to measure blood flow velocity in the main intracranial vessels non-invasively and with high accuracy. These measurements reflect cerebral blood flow in the brain regions supplied by the vessel under investigation, and can be utilised as a measure of general cerebral blood flow following nutritional interventions and during cognitive tasks.
Monitoring of blood flow velocity in the middle, anterior and posterior cerebral arteries.
Hardware: Digi-Lite Digital Transcranial Doppler (Rimed).
