About

Javier completed his BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science in 2009 and MRes in Exercise Physiology in 2010, both at Nottingham Trent University . Javier started his PhD in September 2010, under the supervision of Dr Emma Stevenson.

Research

The aim of Javier's PhD is to investigate the metabolic, endocrine and appetite responses to breakfast consumption and composition in conjunction with exercise. He has previously performed research on the effects of calcium on substrate oxidation and endurance performance. In addition, Javier has also investigated the physiological consequences on the work of breathing in highly-trained athletes and inspiratory muscle training.
