About

Joanne graduated from Northumbria University in 2006 with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. Following a year and a half working as an account resourcer for a large north east recruitment company, she returned to Northumbria University in January 2008 to provide administrative support to the School of Psychology and Sport Sciences. Joanne joined the BPNRC in April 2008 as a research assistant in order to pursue her interest in Psychology and academic research. Joanne is also a fully trained phlebotomist and assists with collection of blood samples in several studies at the BPNRC. Her research interests include the effects of supplements and food additives on behaviour.

Research

Joanne has assisted with several research projects at the BPNRC including a recently published study examining the effects of vitamin supplements in females self-reporting fatigue.  More recently she has worked on several studies using the Near Infrared Spectroscopy to examine the effects of as range of nutritional supplements on cerebral blood flow.
